A special shout out to Elizabeth Fedofsky for capturing the women’s overall title at the Halfmax National Championship on Sept. 15. Of course, y’all know Liz from her Fedofsky Friday columns here as well as her blog, elizabethfedofsky.blogspot.com.
The course, at the Innsbrook Resort outside of St. Louis, Missouri, consisted of a 1.2 mile calm lake-water swim, a hilly to rolling two-lap 56-mile bike course and an incredibly hilly, two lap, 13.1-mile run course. Liz had the fastest female run split with an overall time of 4:41:24
Athletes qualified for the championship by either posting established times, or finishing in the top 25 percent of their age group at one of the nation’s 19 official qualifying events.
No stranger to this particular podium, Liz also took the title at Innsbrook in ‘06, proving her adaptability after winning the ‘05 championship on a much flatter, Kansas City course.
This should set a nice tone for her upcoming race at the Big Show, the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in Kona on Oct. 13.
