Crossing the finish line looking like a figure competitor

Rachel Cosgrove has a great blog post about training for an Ironman or Half-Ironman and still having a great-looking physique at the end of the race. It’s a goal she’s been challenged to meet for the past few years when she competed in powerlifting (she set a national record) and the world championships in triathlon. Her conclusion? It can’t be done. Rachel posits that to look “good” (muscular, defined abs) your body has to be kept-off balance so it is forced to change. To be competitive in endurance events, your body has to learn how to adapt. To be more efficient. Two polar objectives. That being said, it appears as if she is not giving up on achieving both goals at the same time.
